Folding sliding doors are straightforward to measure. Getting the design right and door track preferences correct will ensure that your doors are easy to install and create the look you desire.

We have provided one easy to follow folding doors measuring guide. This section is intended to enable you to measure correctly and give us the dimensions we need to make your doors. There is a section at the end of this guide which provides a little more information on which floor track option you prefer. Before starting to measure, please make sure you read this short document fully. If possible, please print this off and read the guide in detail. If you have any questions please make sure you contact us with any questions.

Use a good quality steel tape measure if you are measuring an existing door opening.
If working off plan, ensure you double check your dimensions with your architect or builder as a back up check.

Basic Principles

• Your folding doors are provided with a 4 sided frame.
• The door panels are then mounted inside this frame.
• The dimensions you convey to us includes the frame. We will make all deductions and calculations necessary for your doors to fit the opening dimensions you convey to us.
• We just need to know the opening size when measured from INSIDE the room. The bottom track mounting type (option A, B or C) does not affect this size.

1. Imagine you are standing inside the room, looking out. Therefore visualise how the room will look when the internal floor is in place, walls plastered etc.
2. Tell us the width you would like your set of doors to be. This is measured from left to right (wall to wall) and internal floor level to ceiling.

With our folding sliding door system there are 3 different options to select for the bottom track. Please read our folding sliding doors design guide for more information and help.

Remember – you do not need to worry about taking these dimensions into account. We will add on (if required) the appropriate additional dimension for whichever bottom track option you prefer.

Folding sliding doors with a surface mounted track would see the bottom piece of track (or frame if you prefer to use that term) mounted directly onto the internal floor level. This would mean that when the doors are opened you have to step over this bottom piece of track.

This design sees the bottom piece of frame / track inset into the floor. This is used when you want the internal floor level to be flush with the outdoor floor level.

With this design there is a slight V shaped up stand of a few millimetres. This is to reduce the likelihood of rain water coming in, underneath doors. The doors do have heavy duty brushes on the underside of the bottom of them, however this unique track design is a safeguard against a backflow of water.

This design sees the bottom track flush with the internal floor with a small step down to the outside level. We recommend this design if you do not absolutely have to have the track completely flush inside and out. There is small rubber seal onto which the doors close which gives extra protection against the external elements. Remember, the track will be flush with the internal floor level therefore when your doors are folded back, you will still have the appearance of the track being concealed.
